Black Wall Street was a term I heard, but had never known where it came from. In doing research, I learned the term was coined after the Greenwood District of Tulsa, OK. The Greenwood District of Tulsa, OK was a prosperous community of black residents and businesses. From May 31 - June 1, 1921, a mob of white residents attacked and killed the black residents of the Greenwood district and also destroyed and burned down the businesses of Black Wall Street. This massacre in Tulsa is considered one of the worst incidents of racial violence in America.
After learning of Black Wall Street and how it was destroyed, I made a decision many years ago to ensure my dollars went to Black Owned Business. Here is a list of businesses that I support regularly in my local area and some online businesses I order from if you want to Buy Black too:
